Snyk is a developer-first security company that integrates directly into development workflows to identify and remediate vulnerabilities early in the software development lifecycle. Over 2,500 customers use the platform, including Google, Salesforce, and Atlassian.

Platform Capabilities

Snyk Code provides static application security testing (SAST) powered by machine learning. It offers real-time scanning in IDE and pull requests, supports more than 25 programming languages, and provides AI-powered fix suggestions with low false positive rates through semantic analysis.

Snyk Open Source handles software composition analysis for dependency vulnerabilities. It scans direct and transitive dependencies, generates automated fix pull requests, monitors license compliance, and integrates with all major package managers.

Snyk Container focuses on container image security with base image vulnerability scanning, Dockerfile security recommendations, registry and CI/CD integration, and Kubernetes workload scanning.

Snyk Infrastructure as Code scans Terraform, CloudFormation, Kubernetes, and ARM templates. It supports policy as code with custom rules and provides drift detection between IaC and runtime configurations.

Developer Experience

Snyk’s core differentiator is its developer-centric design. The platform provides IDE plugins for VS Code, IntelliJ, and Eclipse, plus a CLI for local scanning and CI/CD integration. Git integration covers GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, and Azure DevOps. CI/CD support includes Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, and Azure Pipelines, and the platform connects to registries including Docker Hub, ACR, ECR, and GCR.

Vulnerability Database

Snyk maintains a proprietary vulnerability database that discloses issues 24 hours faster than NVD on average. The database includes detailed remediation guidance, exploit maturity ratings, and EPSS integration for prioritization.

Funding

Snyk has raised over $1 billion in venture funding, reaching a peak valuation of $8.5 billion in 2022. Investors include Accel, GV (Google Ventures), Tiger Global, and Salesforce Ventures.

Leadership

Peter McKay joined as CEO in 2022, bringing experience as former Veeam CEO. Guy Podjarny serves as Founder and President, and Danny Grander is Co-Founder and Chief Architect.
